EMAIL SCAM ALERT TO WGA MEMBERS

We have been made aware of a recent email scam targeting members of our community. It has come to our attention that some individuals are receiving fraudulent emails from scammers pretending to be representatives of the Writers’ Guild of Alberta.
These scam emails may request you to download files or documents, claiming they contain important information. We urge you not to download any suspicious attachments or click on links within these messages.
To help protect yourself and ensure the legitimacy of communications from us, please verify that any emails you receive from our organization come from an @writersguild.ab.ca domain.
Please rest assured that we have reported this incident and are following the proper procedures to stop the scammer and prevent further fraudulent activity.
If you receive a suspicious email:
- Do not open any attachments or click on any links.
- Verify the sender’s email address ends with @writersguild.ab.ca.
