A WGA POETRY INTENSIVE WITH ALICE MAJOR
WGA Members: $150.00
Non-Members: $200.00
Max. 12 participants
WHAT?
You’ve been writing poems, maybe publishing a few individual ones. Now you’re thinking about how to round them up into a chapbook or full manuscript. But do they really belong together? How should you order them?
In this two-part online Poetry Intensive, Alice Major will help you look at your poems (up to three pages) through a different lens, to help you identify how your words are really working and then to move your individual poems into the longer arc of a collection. You’ll have time between the two group gatherings to take a thoughtful look at your work. You’ll also have an opportunity to schedule one-on-one consultations with Alice.
WHO?
Alice has herded poems into 12 of her own poetry collections and edited collections for many other poets and publishers. She has received numerous awards and recognition for her books, including the Pat Lowther Award and the Stephan G. Stephansson prize. She also received the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Distinguished Artist Award, and an honorary doctorate of letters from the University of Alberta. She was chosen as the City of Edmonton’s first poet laureate.
